Film Screening: War and Justice

The THIMUN Foundation will house the screening of War and Justice. The documentary follows Luis Moreno Ocampo, first chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court from 2003 to 2012. Film director Marcus Vetter and former prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo will be present. After the screening, the audience would be able to ask any questions to both speakers.

Short synopsis: The documentary War and Justice tells the 25-year history of the International Criminal Court [ICC] in its mission to end the most serious crimes against humanity. It follows the first ICC Chief Prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo in his battle against wars in the Congo, Libya, Palestine and Ukraine.

Once war is launched, can the ensuing crimes be prevented at all? Or is former Nuremberg prosecutor Ben Ferencz right when he says that the greatest war crime of all is war itself?

De THIMUN Foundation organiseert de vertoning van War and Justice. De documentaire volgt Luis Moreno Ocampo, eerste hoofdaanklager van het Internationaal Strafhof van 2003 tot 2012. Filmregisseur Marcus Vetter en voormalig aanklager Luis Moreno Ocampo zullen aanwezig zijn. Na de vertoning kan het publiek vragen stellen aan beide sprekers.

Korte samenvatting: De documentaire War and Justice vertelt de 25-jarige geschiedenis van het Internationaal Strafhof [ICC] in zijn missie om een einde te maken aan de ernstigste misdaden tegen de menselijkheid. De documentaire volgt de eerste hoofdaanklager van het ICC, Luis Moreno Ocampo, in zijn strijd tegen oorlogen in Congo, Libië, Palestina en Oekraïne.

Als de oorlog eenmaal is begonnen, kunnen de daaropvolgende misdaden dan überhaupt worden voorkomen? Of heeft voormalig Neurenberg-aanklager Ben Ferencz gelijk als hij zegt dat de grootste oorlogsmisdaad van allemaal de oorlog zelf is?

Dit evenement wordt georganiseerd als onderdeel van de 56e jaarlijkse sessie van The Hague International Model United Nations. Op THIMUn 2024 worden ongeveer 3000 internationale studenten van 157 scholen van over de hele wereld verwelkomd.
