Sandra Hüller (best known for Anatomy of a Fall and The Zone of Interest) plays a woman who indulges her sexual fantasies, with dire consequences for her career and marriage.

Charlotte (Sandra Hüller in her younger years) works as a doctor in a teaching hospital. She secretly rents an apartment to conduct remarkable experiments there: she lures - mostly ugly - men into the apartment to have sex with them. When everything comes to light, she receives therapy and is removed from office. Later she goes to India with her son and husband (Bakema), to try to forget her actions. 'Brownian Movement' is a stylish, beautifully photographed film from Dutch soil.

Female Gaze

Although not all directors leave an equally visible mark on their work, their choices are all-important for the work you get to see. They decide not only what you see in the frame, but also which characters get an explored story. In the modern world, however, only 11 percent of directors are women. As such, the "male gaze" is still the norm.

In an effort to change the status quo in this, Filmhuis Den Haag is focusing on a program as part of Women's Day that will spotlight women in front of and behind the camera. All films will be introduced by Dana Linssen, film journalist and writer.
