Can we fight climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution?

We are at the halfway point of the SDG agenda. The effects of the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution become ever more present in the daily lives of millions around the world. Working on the issue of a clean and healthy environment is key to help protect societies around the world. We must take measures against the hurt of global warming, which is not equally divided, and its consequences, which can lead to political instability and conflict.

This interactive youth session connects the insights of the executive director of the UN Environment Programme with the views of the next generation for the promotion of a clean and healthy environment.

What can the youth expect of UNEP and what can UNEP expect from the youth? Can we avoid a climate disaster? And if so, how? What role can UNEP play in achieving the SDGs?

• Inger Andersen, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme. She provides unique insights into the work of the UN and its efforts on climate, nature, and pollution around the world.

Event moderator is Wouter Ubbink, VN-jongerenvertegenwoordiger Biodiversiteit & Voedsel (UN Youth Representative Biodiversity and Food).

Event is co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. , The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Leiden University – Campus The Hague.
