The Hague, international city of peace and justice The Hague is regularly in the world news because of the international court cases of, for example, the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court. The special status of The Hague as a city of peace and justice attracts many heads of government, international organisations, knowledge institutions, social organisations, companies and students. They work together here, share their knowledge and develop new ideas to solve global problems.
International organisations
The Hague is home to 200 intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations. Think of the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, Eurojust, Europol and the OPCW. NGOs such as Unicef and Oxfam Novib and virtually all foreign embassies and consulates are located in The Hague. International organisations, knowledge centres and companies like to cooperate with each other, because that yields new knowledge and innovative products. Most international organisations are located in the International Zone. This is also where a number of embassies are located.
